What to Expect on Delivery Day: Curbside Drop, Box Weight, 5-Minute Setup
Delivery guide · Published by Outdoor Nook, which makes and sells the recliners shown
Your recliner is ordered. Now a 90 to 100 lb box is on its way to a FedEx truck, and nobody has told you where it will land. Here is exactly what happens between checkout and your first nap, including the parts our reviewers wish they had known.
We read all 635 of our product and company reviews. One of the most common delivery complaints is not about damage or speed. It is about where FedEx leaves the box. So we would rather tell you now.

1. How it ships: free FedEx, one box per chair
Delivery is free by FedEx to the 48 contiguous states. We hand new orders to FedEx within 1 to 2 business days of confirmed payment, and FedEx transit typically takes another 5 to 8 business days depending on distance, so most orders arrive in 7 to 10 days. Orders ship from our Southern California warehouse.
Each recliner travels in its own box. Pre-orders, back-ordered items and Sunbrella fabric upgrades have separate lead times, shown at checkout. Going away? Tell us when you want it to arrive and we will hold the shipment.
2. Where the box lands: your door or the curb
This is the honest part. FedEx delivers to your door or curbside, and the driver decides which. It is not a white-glove service, so do not expect the box to be carried to your backyard, unpacked or the packaging taken away. For FedEx parcels your presence is not required, so the box may simply be waiting when you get home.
For some owners that is fine. For others it was the low point of the whole purchase, and we understand why:
“I was really upset at 69 years old the truck brought the 3 boxes and put them at the garage door. Did not let me know.”
If you cannot move a heavy box yourself, line up a neighbor or family member for the delivery window before the chair ships, and clear a spot in the garage or by the front door where it can wait.
3. The box weighs about 90 to 100 lb
One chair, one box, about 90 to 100 lb. We recommend two people to move it, and a hand truck or dolly makes the trip to the patio much easier. Plan the route first: steps, gates, gravel and the width of any doorway the box has to pass through.
Owners say the same, and still think it is worth it:
“The boxes are pretty heavy so you will need help moving them, or a dolly, but well worth the effort.”
4. Pairs and sets can arrive on different days
Because every chair ships as its own box, a pair or set can travel through the FedEx network separately. Some days the boxes arrive together. Sometimes one turns up a day or two later. One owner put it simply:
“Ordered the chairs together, however they were delivered separately on 2 different days. No problem with the chairs.”
Count the boxes against your order confirmation. If one is missing or tracking stops moving, call us on 1-800-296-0232 and we will look into it with FedEx. FedEx tracking updates are not always precise on the day, so treat the delivery window as a guide.
5. Inspect it on arrival and photograph any damage
Owners often mention how well the chairs are packed, but a long truck ride is still a long truck ride. Look over each box before you unpack, then check the frame, wicker and cushions as you take them out.
If anything is damaged, take photos of the box and the product and contact us right away. Our policy is to repair or replace items with defects in workmanship or materials within the first 14 days, and photographs and proof of the issue are required. Keep the original packaging until you are sure, because returns are collected in it.
“We had a small issue with the chair due to damage from delivery. The company immediately resolved the problem without delay.”
6. Setup: open the box, slide and click, sit back
This is the part owners rave about: easy assembly comes up in 37% of our reviews. The base arrives already built. You slide the back onto the base until it clicks into place by hand, then click the cushions together. No screwdriver, no Allen key and no hardware bag. The back takes about 2 minutes and the whole job is under 5 minutes.
“After unboxing, it took maybe five minutes since most of the chair is already assembled and the back just slides into place.”
Two things to know before the first sit. The built-in cover is already there, folded into a pouch on the back of the chair. And keep small hands clear when the footrest closes, since fingers can get caught. Leave room behind and in front of the chair to recline fully; our guide to recline, swivel and glide clearance has the numbers.

7. If it is not right: 14 days and a free pickup
You cannot sit in a recliner before you buy it online, so the first 14 days are your trial. Return it within 14 days of delivery for a full refund. Contact us and we email a prepaid label and arrange a FedEx pickup from your address, so you do not have to haul the box anywhere. The refund is issued once the chair is back at our warehouse and inspected.
The item needs to be in clean, original condition and in its original packaging. After 14 days you can still return it up to 90 days, but a 20% restocking fee applies and you pay the shipping. Sunbrella upgrades, made-to-order and clearance items are not returnable.
